TOC Europe 2012 is returning to Antwerp for the second year running

The Port of Antwerp

Port of AntwerpPort of Antwerp

The Port of Antwerp is in the top 20 largest (by tonnage) ports in the world and second only to Rotterdam in Europe.

The estuary is navigable by ships of more than 100,000 Gross Tons as far as 80 km inland. The inland location means that the port of Antwerp enjoys a more central location in Europe than the majority of North Sea ports. Antwerp's docks are connected to the hinterland by rail, waterway and road.

The port handles around 21 million tonnes of steel, forest products, fruit, ro-ro and project cargo every year and is Europe's top breakbulk port.

The City of Antwerp

Antwerp is Belgium's second largest city and the largest city in Flanders. Its character, its cosmopolitan feel and economic leadership make it a city that enjoys a reputation abroad to rival that of the capital.

The city of Antwerp makes up the largest urban centre in the country in terms of number of inhabitants. The district of Antwerp alone has almost as many inhabitants as the Brussels Region: almost a million people live less than 30 kilometres from Antwerp expo. The province of Antwerp is the most densely populated in the country, with 1.65 million inhabitants

Venue - Antwerp Expo

Antwerp Expo

Antwerp Expo is situated at the intersection of the Jan Van Rijswijcklaan and the Antwerp ring road. Antwerp Expo is only five minutes from Deurne Business Airport and half an hour from Belgium's National Airport. The high-speed train station and Berchem station are also only a few minutes away.

The 4-hectare site boasts 22,120 m² of infrastructure and is one of the best exhibition venues in mainland Europe.

Each year, more than 60 exhibitions and as many meetings, events and conferences are organised. Because Antwerp expo is so well situated in the Antwerp region, it is the meeting place for 7,000 companies and 1,200,000 visitors.
