TOC Europe back in Rotterdam packed with new content and features

London 12 November 2019

TOC Europe, the best-in-class trade show and conference for the global port and terminal industry as key enablers of maritime trade, transport and supply chains, is back in its home hub at the Port of Rotterdam from 9-11 June 2020. The 44th edition of the well-established event will be packed with brand new content and features, with a vastly increased exhibition, reflecting the growing magnitude of global container and bulk port operations. World container port demand is forecast to grow by an average 4.4% annually over the coming few years, reaching 973 million TEU by 2023, according to industry analyst Drewry.

The new-look programme at TOC Europe 2020 will run across four dedicated conference theatres, delivering high-level content and debate in ‘bite-size’ sessions. So far, 3 main conference streams – Container Supply Chain, TECH TOC and Bulk – have been confirmed, with 12 core themes announced: Automation & Autonomous, Clean & Green, Digital Futures, Investment & Finance, Market Intelligence, People in Ports, Policy & Regulation, Port Technology, PortWatch2020, Protect Your Assets, Standardisation and Supply Chain Disruption.

All sessions will be free to attend, delivering business intelligence, practical advice and lively debate on international maritime trade and regulations, container and dry bulk shipping strategy, port development and investment, inland transport logistics and of course terminal operations.

As the pace of technology-enabled transformation continues to scale rapidly, the 2020 edition will have a deep and rich focus on the evolving ‘smart, secure, sustainable and safe’ agenda. Speakers and panels will explore the very latest in digitalisation, automation, autonomous vehicles, clean power and more that are starting to change the fundamentals of maritime logistics and supply chains at sea and on land. And, with $12 billion invested from January to September this year in global supply chain and logistics start-ups, according to CB Insights, TOC Europe will have an expanded focus on the emerging start-ups business landscape in maritime trade, logistics and ports.

Paul Holloway, Event Director at TOC Events Worldwide commented:

“TOC Europe 2020 is adopting a fresh new format designed to add value to the attendee and exhibitor alike. Guests to the event will have over 150 hours of ‘bite-size’ content to select from based on their areas of interest. Each session will come under one of 12 core editorial themes, meaning visitors can hand craft their own programme and plan their time more effectively. Selected associations and media partners are working with us to bring in new port related communities to widen the conversation and add greater footfall to the event. We have also tightened our editorial control in order to preserve the editorial integrity of the various conferences. As a result, we have restructured our commercial menu which now will offer clients a suite of brand new sponsorship options. We at TOC are very excited by this fresh, new look TOC Europe and look forward to sharing the details with the market very soon.“
