Currently, he is “Distinguished Chair Professor” at Dalian Maritime University (China), Visiting Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam, and affiliated researcher with the Sorbonne Center for Economics – Sorbonne University. He is the founder of the Erasmus Center for Maritime Economics and Logistics (MEL) (www.maritimeeconomics.com) and also the founding (and current) Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly journal Maritime Economics & Logistics (MEL), published by Palgrave-Macmillan (www.palgrave.com/41278) for the last 25 years.
He has written and published over 300 scientific papers, books, reports and articles in the wider area of ports, maritime transport and logistics and has consulted governments, international organizations and private companies all over the world including, for a number of years, the European Commission.
In the period 2011-2015 Professor Haralambides was President of the Italian port of Brindisi and at the end of that period (2015) he established “Haralambides & Associates”: a global maritime think-tank engaged in executive education and strategic policy analysis.

Hans works in the transport and logistics sea trade sector for 51 years.
He started his career at a shipping agency and having gaining experience in all facets of import and export services, he was appointed to set up the ICT function in the company. He is also one of the gurus on EDI standardization – he joined UN working groups to establish UN/CEFACT EDIFACT messages for the global sea trade industry. Having been general manager ICT within the shipping agency, Hans was asked to join the Rotterdam group of experts for the set-up of the Port Community System in the Port of Rotterdam. Since then he has been working for Portbase Rotterdam until January 2019 when he retired.
The International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA) has chalked up some remarkable achievements in the past years. Membership has increased to the point where IPCSA is now active and has members in every continent; IPCSA has continued to increase its influence at the highest levels; and IPCSA membership has expanded beyond port and cargo community systems to include Single Window operators.
All of this has been achieved under the dynamic chairmanship of Hans Rook, whose knowledge and expertise of community systems, IT and port logistics, built up over a 50-year career, is unrivalled.
Hans is quite simply one of the visionaries in the development of new services to support the simplification of trade. Hans, retired from Portbase Rotterdam as per 01-01-2019 were he was senior adviser at Portbase, the Port Community System in The Netherlands.

Isabelle Ryckbost is Secretary General of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) since 1 August 2013.
Before taking up this function, Isabelle has been working as Director of the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP) and Senior Advisor of ESPO for four years.
Isabelle Ryckbost studied Law (University of Namur and KULeuven) and European Law (UCL Louvain). Before joining EFIP, she has been working in EU Public Affairs for almost 20 years.
After having worked for a short period in the European Commission (DG Agriculture), she worked in an EU Public Affairs consultancy. In 1994 she started working in the European Parliament, where she worked as a political assistant.
Between 1999 and 2009 she was working in the European Parliament as the political assistant of Dirk Sterckx, where she was mainly active in transport and port-related fields. She is co-author of the handbook “Zo Werkt Europa” (1st edition 2007, 2nd edition 2010).

James Hookham is Secretary General and Director of the Global Shippers Forum (GSF), the voice of cargo owners in international supply chains. He is a graduate in Environmental Science from the University of Bradford and completed a Master’s degree in the safe transport of dangerous goods at the University of Manchester.
GSF campaigns for safe, competitively efficient and sustainable movement of goods in international supply chains and works with over 25 national shippers associations in supporting and promoting the work of importers and exporters around the world.
James early career was spent with Exis Technologies (now part of National Cargo Bureau) developing the world’s first remotely accessible computerised dangerous goods database and he later served as deputy editor of Hazardous Cargo Bulletin.
Until 2020 James was Deputy Chief Executive of the Freight Transport Association (now Logistics UK) where he held numerous positions on UK, EU and global transport and logistics advisory bodies, as well as senior executive responsibilities in one of the UK’s largest business groups.

Guillermo Massot is a ports and shipping specialist with 20 years of M&A, operations and product management experience. Prof. Lynn Loo is the chief executive officer of the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD), a not-for-profit organization based in Singapore.
Established by six founding partners from the maritime industry and supported by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore, GCMD’s mission is to help the sector accelerate its decarbonisation efforts through shaping standards, deploying solutions, financing projects, and fostering collaboration across sectors.
Lynn is also the Theodora D. ’78 and William H. Walton III ’74 Professor in Engineering, and Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, currently on leave from Princeton University.

Laura is the Digital Portfolio Owner - Data Products at APM Terminals, a company that operates of one of the world’s most comprehensive port networks - helping both shipping lines and landside customers grow their business and achieve better supply chain efficiency, flexibility, and dependability.
Laura leads the creation and modernization of value-adding data products and services for customers of APM Terminals across the world. In this position, Laura also focuses on enhancement and creation of new API solutions, driving APM Terminals’ digital transformation via www.apmterminals.com
Prior to joining APM Terminals in 2021, Laura held Product and Business Intelligence leadership positions within world’s leading software & services companies, rolling out AI-powered products for demand forecasting and Predictive Analytics. Laura is a strong believer in the power of data and Machine Learning to improve life for all, making customers' businesses and users' lives thrive.
Originally from Romania, Laura holds a BS in Cybernetics and a master’s degree in Business Management from Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Laura is also a PMI and Microsoft certified professional. Outside of work, Laura spends time playing board games, watching movies, and travelling to snorkelling destinations.

Pascal is a world-renowned PCS expert, having been the founding Chairman of IPCSA and now Chairing the IAPH Data Collaboration Committee. Pascal has engaged in work for IAPH together with member ports and the World Bank, IMO and WCO on accelerating digitalization on a wide variety of initiatives, including cybersecurity, port call, automation, innovation.
Pascal graduated from the French Institute for Higher National Defense Studies in Maritime issues and strategies, holds a MSc in Economics from Paris Dauphine University and a MBA in International Business from the European University of America, San Francisco.

Mees van der Wiel is business consultant strategy & innovation at Portbase, the Netherlands, General Manager of the PROTECT secretariat at IPCSA, member of the executive committee of IPCSA and UN/CEFACT expert.
Born and raised in the middle of the Port of Rotterdam, he always had a huge interest in maritime transport and port operations.
He has been working in the domain of information exchange in transport & logistics since 2005 in several companies and in different positions, but always focused on improving information flows in supply chains.
His main focus at Portbase is on policy, legislative and standardization changes on EU and national level, such as the European Maritime Single Window Environment (EMSWe), ICS2, BREXIT and several digitalisation projects with the Port of Rotterdam and the Dutch government.
Next to this, Mees manages the PROTECT Secretariat.
PROTECT supports the electronic reporting required by authorities for vessels entering or leaving a port or port area.
The PROTECT Group has established a harmonised worldwide recognised EDI standard.
