Port congestion, container shortage at the heart of TOC Connect #Americas conference

Experts will combine live and on-demand discussions on the industry’s latest challenges

The shipping industry is always under stress of some sort. For years it was the overcapacity crisis that drove freight rates to the ground and now the forces have shifted and there is not enough capacity or boxes in the world to move cargo from end of the globe to the other. This situation hit the industry like a bolt of lightning, suddenly and with a flash, but now that the pandemic has become a part of the ‘new normal’, normalcy has not returned to the flow of shipping. There’s port congestion, delays, roll-overs, container shortage and high freight rates all will be part of the hot topics under discussion in the upcoming TOC Connect #Americas, the leading event in the maritime logistics industry in the Latin American region.

Over the course of three weeks, TOC Connect #Americas, #Europe and #Global will address the issues that are on everybody’s minds and agendas through live and on-demand streaming sessions including subtitles in Spanish for English-speaking sessions.

Amenities

Among the new amenities debuting this year, paying delegates will have first access to premier content, such as the interregional session, which will be the first-ever fully Spanish panel in TOC Events history. During the third Week will also be two premier sessions powered by WCN in conjunction with TOC Events, and the networking platform with an improved AI experience, designed to make better matches between attendants who wish to connect with industry peers.

TOC CONNECT will offer our customers from the Americas the opportunity to network and share knowledge with their European peers, over a 3 week period. The first week places the spotlight on the Americas which will of course be accessible by our global attendees. These 6 sessions will be replayed 2 weeks later with Spanish subtitles. ‘Visitor Plus’ Delegates from The Americas will also have the chance to view all of the European content that will be filmed live in Rotterdam, again with Spanish subtitles,” explains Paul Holloway, Event Director at TOC Events Worldwide.

Connecting the globe

The post-pandemic ‘new-normal' event will combine two new concepts: hybrid event and two languages. Because if social distancing has taught us anything over the past year and a half, it’s that we must learn to reconcile online venues, different time zones, languages and, at the same time, give each other the chance to greet in person as recognition to vaccination efforts oriented towards a return to physical normalcy. So, first, the pressing topics of the industry bring us together to identify and analyze trends, discuss sustainable solutions going forward, and later the objective of the event itself which is to gather the top speakers from all over the world.

“There is an ‘in person’ event halfway through the virtual experience for those who can make it, the first live event we have been able to organize since we left Colombia in 2019.  For those readers who are unable to travel to Europe, we look forward to welcoming you back to TOC Americas in Lima, Peru in 2022. In the meantime, I would recommend buying a ‘Visitor Plus’ delegate pass for Connect as this ticket will unlock a series of sessions unavailable to free attendees. Also, the full networking experience with all speakers and delegates is included in this package.  Contact our friends at MM for further information. We at TOC are looking forward to hosting you at Toc Connect and seeing you face to face next year,” adds the TOC Events executive.

Traditional TOC experience

As much as TOC Connect #Americas is re-vamping the TOC conference experience, there are still some TOC traditions, such as the networking events -both online through the AI-powered platform and live at the Europe venue-, the TECH TOC sessions and the exhibit.
